About PhotoCompressor

PhotoCompressor is a free image compressor that runs entirely in the browser, in 15 languages, so a photo can get smaller without being uploaded.

The site exists because the popular compressors either upload the picture or give the searcher a thin page with no control. We wanted the opposite: local codecs, a quality slider, a target size, resize, batch and ZIP, and a page that answers the question in the reader’s language.

What runs on this device

JPEG uses MozJPEG. WebP, AVIF and PNG use the same family of codecs shipped by the Squoosh project, loaded only after you compress. GIF animations are re-packed in the browser. The first page is static HTML so the words are in the response before any script runs.

What we do not do

We do not keep a copy of your photo, sell a pro tier, or cap the batch at 20 files. We do measure traffic with Google Analytics and load Google AdSense, which the privacy policy explains. Editorial notes are written by the PhotoCompressor Editors.

Languages

Each language has its own address and its own text, aimed at the way that language searches for an image compressor. The footer lists them. We do not switch language based on your IP address.
